Let’s start by introducing ourselves – I’ll start with me (the wifey). I’m Jyoti. I am a first generation Indian-American, born and raised outside of Princeton, NJ. I’ve been a geek since I can remember – I love to read, learn about science and do puzzles of any kind (jigsaw, crossword, etc. etc.). My nerdiness took me to MIT and then a smattering of jobs after. I like to think I have too many interests, so it’s too hard to keep me tied down to one single job or career. Over the last 15 years I’ve worked in cancer research, athletic wear, consulting and sports, while also getting my MBA and teaching as an Adjunct Professor.
My parents were the first ones to instill the travel bug in me. Our biggest trips were to India to see friends and family, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. We would take trips to all the East Coast beaches – Seaside Heights, NJ, Ocean City, NJ, Ocean City, MD, Virginia Beach, VA, Hilton Head, SC, Cape Code, MA, Wildwood, NJ, etc. etc. We also got to see so many amazing places and experiences across the entire US – we went to Hawaii, Florida, Las Vegas, Ohio, etc. and attended events like the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena.
My travel bug has continued to grow over the years and one of my favorite developments has been my comfort in and love of traveling solo. I “backpacked” around Europe and, though the route had to be significantly altered because of a bad bout of C. Diff. it was one of my favorite travel experiences. (and above is an old-school selfie, taken using a digital camera in the pre-iPhone days).
And now, traveling with Damian has brought me many of my favorite memories of us as a couple. I can’t wait to share more about them with you!
Next up, time to learn more about Damian!
